BLS for Healthcare Providers is a certification course intended for individuals who work in the healthcare environment. This course identifies the latest CPR and basic life supporting techniques. This CPR class focuses on the adult, child, and infant CPR sequence, as well as effectively using the AED. Use of emergency breathing devices, and effectively giving ventilations in the presence of an advanced airway are also discussed in this course. BLS for Healthcare Providers will also allow students the opportunity to identify the latest techniques dealing with adult, child, and infant choking.
Course Length: Approximate course length is about 4 – 4.5 hours.
Intended Audience: The BLS for Healthcare Providers course is intended for healthcare professionals and professional rescuers. This course is open to initial students as well as students in need of renewing skills. Everyone should be familiar with the complete CPR sequence, however this course encompasses techniques that will be most effectively utilized among healthcare providers such as EMT’s, nurses, physicians, etc…
CPR Class Requirements: BLS for Healthcare Providers course student manual is the required text for this course. Individuals MUST be physically able to perform the needed skills in order to effectively display that they have mastered the course concepts.
Certification: Upon successful completion of this CPR course, students will receive a Basic Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association. This certification is good for two years from the date of the course. Students should renew the skills every two years to remain up to date on the most effective BLS techniques.
